These are probably the only mammals in the UK that are marsupial! They were brought over to UK zoos in around 1900 and since that time a number have escaped and established breeding populations. They favour heathland and grassland. Their native climate is similar to that of the UK so they should have no problems surviving here. They are not a large animal only growing to a maximum of around 1metre. |
