Description:

Facts:
The
North American mink (a member of the mustelidae family) was imported
into Britain in 1929 and bred for its fur.
As the wearing of fur has become less politically correct the breeding of mink in captivity has dramatically reduced. In the intervening years however large numbers of mink have escaped or been freed by animal liberation groups and have become very established in Britain. It has spread throughout most of the British Isles and appears impossible to eradicate. |
